LATEST NEWS

Below you'll find the latest on new model developments, status of current stock, new suppliers and other such business related matters. For the more personal side of Singular; what we've been riding and where, upcoming races, and just general musings have a look at the blog.

26.8.10

I'm very glad to report that the batch of Swifts and Peregrines we have been waiting on for so long are finally on the way. Those who had pre-orders in will be having their frame air freighted which I expect to see here next week.

Next week I am heading off to Eurobike for Europe's biggest trade show. For this reason we will be unable to ship any orders between 30.8 and 3.9. Any outstanding orders will be shipped asap in the following week.

30.7.10

We're unfortunately experiencing some regrettable delays with the next batch of Swifts and Peregrines due to circumstances beyond our control. We hope you'll bear with us if you are waiting for a frame. They are now expected to leave Taiwan on 20.8. Those who have pre-orders in with deposits down will have their frames air-freighted, the bulk of them will arrive in late September.

Meanwhile, it's not as though we've been sitting around twiddling thumbs. We have some nice clothing in which is available to purchase here. Singular owners please email for 10% off clothing prices.

We've also just had another batch of Pegasus titanium frames come through in both 26" and 29" flavours. All customers seem to be very happy with them. The next batch will be ordered in early October for November delivery. If you are interested in some special titanium goodness just email. Also rendered in the wonder material will shortly be some road and 'cross frames. Call for details on that.

There have also ben some fantastic results for team Singular in this season's racing so far. The Singletrack Weekender unfortunately only had Sam in attendance who managed a top 20 result. The following weekend was 10 @ Kirroughtree, and despite a last minute team change we managed to win the mixed trio. Last weekend saw us head to the other end of the island down in Devon for a five man assault on the Bontrager 24/12. This proved succesful taking 4th overall and second in Masters with a 4/5ths rigid singlespeed team. There are some full reports of these events in the blog.

7.4.10

We are shortly getting the second production run of the Pegasus frames underway. I say production run, though these frames are produced in batches we make them to order. They are standard sizes though the customer has the option of choosing bottom bracket shell type (BSA 68mm or Phil Wood 1/2 link ebb) and cable routing (ss specific, or standard geared). Further custom options are also possible at an extra charge. The frames cost £1600 including UK VAT (£1320 for sales outside the EU) with a £500 deposit payable on the order being placed.

Singletrack magazine recently said of the bike "Not just a great Ti 29er, the Pegasus is a great mountain bike..... one of the best hardtail experiences currently available". Read their full review here.

The closing date for orders is 21.5.10, with delivery being in late June. This is your chance to own a very special mountain bike.

Twentynineinches.com also recently put out their final review of the Gryphon. We have good stock of Gryphons in all sizes at present. A great bike for getting out and exploring your local byways and trails.

We are unfortunately now completely out of stock of both medium and large Swifts, though are happy to take pre-orders on the next batch which are arriving in August.

31.3.10

It's been too long! Apologies for the hiatus in activity on the website. I've had some technical issues which prevented me editing it, and I've been quite flat out getting lots of frames to people.

What that means is that I am now very low on Swifts in certain sizes and Peregrines across the board. The good news is that the next production run is in progress though and we should see those in late June / early July. This will be of both Swifts and Peregrines. I'd hoped it would also include the new Osprey road frames, but that is now likely pushed back to 2011. I had to give priority to established models in the end. What we will have though is a new size of extra small Peregrine with a 51cm effective top tube and 50cm seat tube. Due to its diminutive size it won't be able to take 700x50 (29er) tyres as the other Peregrines can. The maximum 700c rubber will be approximately 34mm. For fatter tyres it's intended that you can run either 650b or 26" wheels with clearance for 50mm tyres or more.

We've had a number of new dealers come on board in the past while as well; in Japan, Israel, Germany, Iceland and Alsager. Details will be going up in the dealer section shortly.

Also overdue for an update is the blog section. A lot has been happening with the Singular racing collective already this season, and we have many plans for the rest of the year. Some words going up there very soon.

19.11.09

We are due to see a container load of frames arriving here tomorrow morning. We will be sorting, prepping and shipping as fast as we can. All those with pre-orders in should see their frame next week at some point. Marty has also collected his Gryphons in the US now, so North American customers can also get their hands on these much awaited frames.

13.11.09

The big boat has landed and all being well with the good people at HMRC we will see around 300 frames arrive at Singular HQ next week. Many people are waiting on frames from this batch though so I expect they will go quite quickly. Get them while you can!

The Pegasus prototypes have arrived and they look really fantastic, not to mention being beautiful to ride as well. They will be made to order with a degree of customisation according to your wishes; pure singlespeed, straight up geared, or a bit of both. The proto frames are the 'bit of both' with an eccentric bottom bracket (reduced size Phil Wood half link eccentric) as well as full gear cable routing. The order page with more details and pictures is here.

The rain we're having is good for one thing at least (apart from the garden) 'cross bikes. Here are a few pics from during the annual Chilicross run - Cross bikes in the Chilterns followed by chili - this year a fantastic chicken mole as well.

19.10.2009

Well, Swifts and Gryphons are not quite going to be here this month as promised, but they will be early November. They have now left Taiwan's sunny shores and are on their way. Good news is that they are joined by a flock of Peregrines. So as of next month we will have all current models in stock.

Other exciting news is that I have begun to work with Nevi in Italy to produce the Pegasus Titanium frames. I expect first samples within the next week and will then take pre-orders over the course of November for delivery in January 2010. I recently visited their factory north of Milan and was hugely impressed by the quality of both their production techniques and finished product. They use a sealed argon filled chamber in which they weld frames to ensure complete weld penetration with zero contamination. This method is common in aerospace but I am not aware of any other cycle manufacturers which do it. The frames will carry a full lifetime warranty.  Though they will be in three standard sizes as per the Swift geometry, customers will have the choice of ebb or standard bb shell, and of cable guide type. Price is yet to be finalised but probably around £1500.

Other excitement in these parts has been thanks to the arrival of the protoypes for our Singular Kite cyclocross race bike. Lightweight steel, canti brakes only and singlespeedable thanks to short horizontal dropouts. Production frames (and indeed some of the samples) have downtube threaded cable stops (not bosses) and a derailleur cable stop. Feedback so far has been very positive and we hope to have these in stock some time in the middle of 2010. Drop me a line to join the mailing list.
